Okay folks, I'd like user submissions for designs on how the logo/t-shirts might look like, and then when I get some ideas I can make a pole and we can vote on it.

DO IT UP.

i don't know... considering none of us technically live in Detroit.

The Tuning factory (when they were around) had a neat logo for one of their shirts. I get compliments on it whenever I where it. the logo is on the bottom side of the T in like a splash looking design and the website name was on the other side at the bottom.

You could just have DD on the front with detroitdriven.com underneath.

Just throwing some out there

I'd love to get in on this. Anyone have any design 'themes' ? Urban/grunge, combinations? etc. I can whip up several logos pretty quickly. This would be a fun one. I think play on negative & postive spaces/letters would be a good direction for this logo. Also, what hass more emphasis, 'Detroit' or 'Driven' ?

I'll have some concepts this weekend.

I am uploading a few logo ideas as I type....

I think the direction and concept of the website should be discussed before picking a slogan... cup-o-soup? what does that have to do with detroitdriven.com ?

I like A, D, E.

Not a fan of the B, C font

-Kevo-
07-09-2009, 12:57 PM
D, E, F are my favorites too. Good contrast, easier to read and better over all use across all media (shirts, banners, web, etc.).

MDavey
07-09-2009, 01:01 PM
oops ya I meant F too.

A, F are my top choices

07-09-2009, 01:13 PM
How do you make splashes like that. I've always wanted to do that

-Kevo-
07-09-2009, 01:20 PM
vectorize splash/scrape marks or other high contrast images, etc. Sometimes draw parts with the pen tool where I feel it's needed or combine several together.

I think E & F are my top choices. E & F are essentially the same logo, just different orientation depending on what the logo is being used for. With E being the primary choice where applicable. That's my thought anyway.

tt300zxFREAK
07-09-2009, 01:21 PM
Can you do a rendering of A with an old english D? Also maybe the entire Detroit in old english and leave driven the way it is. I think that would look sick!

Your right E and F are still the best. If I had to pick one I'd go with F

-Kevo-
07-09-2009, 02:09 PM
I would consider E & F part of the same package. One is vertical and one horizontal orientation depending on application. like F would be nice on a t-shirt, E for decals or web uses, etc.

-Kevo-
07-09-2009, 04:29 PM
The image above IS the same logo. they are both F. So if that is the logo chosen, then the vertical would be for shirts, as mentioned. horizontal where ever else needed, etc.

-Kevo-
07-09-2009, 05:03 PM
then you'll like these....

http://www.insomniagd.com/proofs/detroitdrivenshirtsA.jpg

My original idea is to have these on the back of the shirts, not the front as shown.

or both, have a smaller vertical logo on the front, and the horizontal logo rotated 90deg as shown on the back.... the possibilities...

tt300zxFREAK
07-09-2009, 05:15 PM
The 3 in the 1st row are the best. I like the ends, the grey with black writing is the best and black with white is cool to.

The 3 in the 1st row are the best. I like the ends, the grey with black writing is the best and black with white is cool to.

A 1-color print is also the least expensive route to go. gray and black look good. Either way ya go, a qty of 40 shirts or higher is usually the most cost effective. 10 shirts is about the same price as 40.

I like black shirts personally. I think you should make a new thread with a poll to pick the color of shirt & layout for the first run anyway.

come on people, cup-o-soup is when someone shovels a fart in your face... IE, people who didn't know where the forums were were getting our farts in their nose.

THATS THE GENIUS BEHIND IT.

Kev, love the logos. Do you guys do t-shirts there at the sign place also?

-Kevo-
07-15-2009, 11:58 AM
Not usually. Because screen printing is done in bulk and very low mark-up. Best bet is to find a local Printer or an online Printer. Most companies where you'd upload the design have a minimum of 40 shirts. If it's lower, the price is still about the same for 10 or 40 shirts. This is per run. Some places charge less for re-orders. Not sure what your plans are for shirts, (sell, give to members, etc.) but someone has to drop the bank to get a batch made. I am sure people would buy if cool designs/colors.
